F.A.Q

These are the main differences between aesthetic surgery and reconstructive surgery:

  • Objective: Aesthetic surgery involves surgical interventions to improve or change a person's appearance, while reconstructive surgery is performed to repair defects caused by birth or accident, or to regenerate lost tissue or organs.
  • Need and Medical Indication: Cosmetic surgery is usually performed due to personal preferences or aesthetic concerns, while reconstructive surgery is usually performed as a result of a medical need.
  • Insurance Coverage: While reconstructive surgery is usually covered by health insurance, cosmetic surgery is usually not, as it is usually performed for cosmetic purposes.
  • Procedures Performed: Cosmetic surgery usually includes procedures such as rhinoplasty (nose job), liposuction (fat removal), breast augmentation or reduction, while reconstructive surgery can include procedures such as breast reconstruction, skin transplantation after burns or facial reconstruction.
  • Psychosocial Impacts: Reconstructive surgery improves quality of life by positively impacting the patient's health and psychology, while cosmetic surgery can often improve one's self-esteem but is not related to basic medical needs.

These differences are the main distinctions between aesthetic and reconstructive surgery, and each surgical field has a different purpose and scope of practice.

Liposuction is a surgical procedure to reduce or reshape unwanted fat deposits in the body. In this procedure, fat cells are removed from the tissue with the help of a suction tube (cannula). Liposuction is usually performed on areas such as the abdomen, buttocks, thighs, buttocks, back, arms or neck.

Liposuction is usually performed under local anesthesia. The surgeon inserts the fat suction tube under the skin and sucks out unwanted fat deposits. The procedure can help people who want to improve their body shape or reduce the amount of fat in certain areas.

However, liposuction is not a weight loss method and does not treat obesity. It is also important to maintain a stable body weight and a healthy lifestyle after liposuction. As with any surgical procedure, liposuction can involve certain risks and complications, so people considering this procedure are advised to discuss it in detail with a plastic surgeon.

The purpose of rhinoplasty is to perform surgical intervention to improve or correct nasal aesthetics. This operation aims to improve the balance and harmony of the face by changing the shape and size of the nose, to correct nasal deformities or to relieve breathing problems. As a result, rhinoplasty can improve the patient's appearance and quality of life by providing aesthetic and functional improvements.

Procedures such as Botox and fillers are often related to cosmetic surgery. Cosmetic surgery includes surgical or non-surgical procedures performed to improve or change a person's appearance. Botox is an injection treatment used to reduce or prevent wrinkles on the face, while fillers are often used to compensate for facial volume loss, fill in lines or sculpt specific areas. These procedures are performed by plastic surgeons or dermatologists and are popular options for improving and rejuvenating one's appearance.
