Facelift

Classic face and neck lift surgeries complement combined facial rejuvenation operations, which also include solutions to aging problems in the upper and middle face.

In middle-aged individuals, after the upper and middle face are lifted with endoscopic methods, a classic facelift operation will be sufficient to emphasize the jaw edges, tighten the excess skin formed in front of the cheeks, and correct the sagging around the mouth corners. In older individuals, intervention may also be required for the skin laxity in the neck, sagging in the neck, and the neck muscle (platysma muscle).

When it comes to facial rejuvenation, it is necessary to consider both the tightness and depth of the skin. The face consists not only of the skin but also of fat and muscle layers, ligaments, and deeper bone structures.

Skin Layer: Since the skin is composed of elastic connective tissue, it is more prone to relaxation against tension. However, the stretching process applied to this layer easily reverses itself quickly.

SMAS Layer: The SMAS layer is a layer containing the fascia of the facial muscles and is stronger than the skin layer. While the tension applied to this layer is more permanent than the tension applied to the skin, it is generally not sufficient to perform only Smas plication (folding) without entering the deeper plane of this plan.

Sub-SMAS: The results of lifting by progressing under the Smas layer with dissection are more effective and permanent. In general practice, only the top layer or the top two layers are tightened, and after a while, a return to the pre-operative image is made. For a more permanent result, deep plane facelift, called deep plane facelift, is more suitable.
