Tubular breast is a condition that arises as a result of a developmental deformity that cannot be considered very rare in society, leading to shape irregularities, developmental delays, and asymmetry in the breasts. Tubular breast is also referred to as tuberous breast. As the degree of deformity increases, the damage it causes to a woman's body harmony, psychosocial well-being, and self-confidence becomes more apparent.
It is important to emphasize that tubular breasts, whether they have insufficient volume or are small, are not solely due to a lack of volume. Underlying the presentation are much more complex anatomical and developmental abnormalities. In addition to developmental insufficiency and small size of the breast, factors such as constriction, insufficient skin in the breast, the lower position of the inframammary fold, herniation and enlargement of the nipple, and asymmetry between the two breasts complicate the situation.

While tubular breast repair usually involves increasing breast volume, individually tailored, more complex, and technically specialized approaches are also required. In cases where the diagnosis of tubular breast is overlooked or the underlying problem is incorrectly identified, simply enlarging the breast can often worsen the problem and result in dissatisfaction.
Planning for tubular breast repair is entirely personalized, and it is impossible to speak of a standard treatment procedure. In advanced cases, it should be emphasized that the desired result may not be achieved with a single surgery.
Corrective procedures can be performed for each element of the deformity listed below, according to its contribution to the deformity:
- Constriction of the breast base
- Higher positioning of the inframammary fold than ideal
- Insufficient skin
- Insufficient breast volume
- Sagging of the breast and nipple
- Enlargement of the nipple
All these elements are planned for corrective procedures based on their contribution to the deformity. The procedure can be completed by taking fat from different parts of the body and transferring it to the breast area.
